MYSTERY BABYLON — EPISODE 8: ECUMENISM

William Cooper, Hour of the Time.

October 1, 1989. An Anglican leader calls for unity under the Pope — accept him as common leader of the universal church.

August 27, 1989. Baptist and Catholic theologians find common ground.

That is not revival. That is a merger.

Ecumenism sets basic theological differences aside and keeps only what most religions already share. The World Council of Churches has been walking that road for decades. The product is not the gospel. The product is a religion that serves man — because man is to become God in the new world order, and the creed will change with the needs of man.

Force failed. Nero tried the sword. Tertullian said the blood of Christians is seed. So the weapon changed. Not beasts. Concessions.

Constantine’s conversion was nominal. Paganism, appearing vanquished, became the conqueror. Doctrines, ceremonies, and superstitions were folded into the faith. The commandment against idols was altered.

Cooper’s line: the Roman Empire never fell. It just changed clothes. Same throne. New robes. Babylon wearing a cross.

Lucius Ferraris, Prompta Bibliotheca: the Pope is of so great dignity he is not a mere man, but as it were God and the vicar of God.
Luke 4:8 answers that. Worship the Lord thy God. Him only shalt thou serve.

Indulgences. Purgatory. The mass. Mary in the place of the Mediator. The Inquisition as the engine. Then the smile of unity to finish the job.

J.A. Wylie: the noon of the papacy was the midnight of the world.

Do not trade the gospel for a merger.
